YUMI AKAEDA

Visual Artist, ​Model, Writer

Born in Japan, currently resides in France.

Graduated from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (majored in Linguistics and Japanese ​Studies), and received a Master's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual Studies from Paris 1 ​Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Presently, she is researching the “Female gaze” in cinema ​as a doctoral student at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

She takes and makes abstract photographs/videos/films with her main interests in time ​and memories, light and colors, sounds and resonance. Also, with her experiences living in ​seven countries, she writes essays, texts and screenplays in multiple languages ​​(Japanese, ​Spanish, French and English).

東京外国語大学外国語学部（言語学・日本学）卒業。マドリード・コンプルテンセ大学​教育学研究科にて社会教育学修士、パリ第１大学芸術学研究科にて映画・映像学修士号​を取得。現在はバルセロナ自治大学大学院博士課程に在籍し、映画と女性のまなざし​につい​て​研究中。

時間と記憶、光と色、音と共鳴をテーマに、抽象的・感覚的な写真や映​像を撮影・制作。また、７か国に暮らした経験を活かし、多言語（日・西・仏・英）​でエッセイや詩、シナリオを執筆している。フラ​ンス在住。
